Core Truth: The problem for many Christians is not that they have not really been born again and given a brand new life in Christ by the Spirit of God (see Ephesians 2:1). Rather, the problem is that in terms of their daily walk with Him, many are living largely fruitless lives compared to what He had in mind when in John 15:8 & 16 He said: “My Father is glorified and honored by this, when you bear much fruit, and (by so doing), prove yourselves to be My true disciples. You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and I have appointed and placed and purposefully planted you, so that you would go and bear fruit and keep on bearing, and that your fruit will remain and be lasting, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.”
Scripture: Galatians 5:16-17, 25
But I say, walk and live in the Holy Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by Him]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (your old nature). For the desires of the flesh are opposed to the Holy Spirit, and the desires of the Holy Spirit are opposed to the flesh; for these are antagonistic to each other [continually withstanding and in conflict with each other], so that you are not free but are prevented from doing what you desire to do…if we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. If by the Holy Spirit we have our life in God, let us go forward, walking in line, our conduct controlled by the Spirit.
