About CiA

Children in Action (CiA), is one of the programs organized by the Woman's Missionary Union. It is designed to teach the next generation of believers what it means to live a missional lifestyle.

Although the program as designed by the WMU is geared towards children in first through sixth grades, at Plymouth Haven we have tailored the program to include kindergarten-age children. We feel this is a logical move since the kindergarten and 1st grade Sunday School class is a combined class.

The program runs from September to early June (typically ending with a final closing program the Sunday before Father's Day).

Dinners

We begin our Sunday evening with a light dinner at 5:30 pm for all who wish to partake. We do not offer snacks typically during the CiA time since we have a full program. The dinners help make sure the children will not get hungry and can focus their attention fully on the program. If children do not arrive for the dinner time they should be fed before arrival.

Meetings

Meetings are held on Sundays from 6 - 7:30 p.m. Children begin the program as Agents-in-Training and work towards several goals to become full-fledged CiA agents.

Meetings begin with a combined group immediately following the 5:30 dinner for warmups with the CiA pledge and song and an opening prayer. Sword Drill Bible activities follow using the Bible Skills, Drills and Thrills program materials. The next segment moves into the music room where the children are learning music concepts and hand chimes. The final segment is Missions & Outreach activities for lessons and crafts/activities. Younger children (grades K-3) focus on drawing, paper crafts and activities while older children (grades 4-6) are also using computers to illustrate Bible verses, and create other outreach aids.

Who Can Join

All children in grades K-6 are invited to participate in the CiA program. Children may invite friends from outside of the church but each child will need a registration form to be able to participate. Download the registration form, complete it and return it to the church office or to the CiA program leaders.
